Pode ser administrada externamente, atrav\u00e9s de uma m\u00e1quina que dirige raios invis\u00edveis para o corpo, ou internamente, atrav\u00e9s de pequenos implantes radioactivos no corpo (braquiterapia). Se a radioterapia afecta ou n\u00e3o a fertilidade depende da sua localiza\u00e7\u00e3o (proximidade dos ov\u00e1rios, do \u00fatero ou do c\u00e9rebro) e da dose.  <\/p><ul><li>Doses elevadas de radioterapia nos ov\u00e1rios podem destruir os \u00f3vulos remanescentes no seu interior e resultar em fal\u00eancia ovariana prematura ou menopausa precoce.<\/li><li>O tratamento que afeta o \u00fatero pode causar futuros abortos espont\u00e2neos, partos prematuros e beb\u00e9s com baixo peso ao nascer.<\/li><li>Se a radioterapia for administrada no c\u00e9rebro, pode afectar a gl\u00e2ndula pituit\u00e1ria. Isto pode interferir nos sinais hormonais para utilizar os \u00f3vulos que permanecem no ov\u00e1rio. <\/li><\/ul><p>As mulheres que engravidam ap\u00f3s um tratamento, que exp\u00f4s o seu \u00fatero \u00e0 radioterapia t\u00eam muito mais possibilidades de sofrer abortos espont\u00e2neos ou partos prematuros do que as mulheres que n\u00e3o fizeram radioterapia no ov\u00e1rios.<\/li><li>Danificar uma parte do corpo que controla as hormonas da fertilidade.<\/li><li>Remover ou danificar uma parte do sistema reprodutor feminino.<\/li><\/ul><p>As formas como os tratamentos contra o cancro afectam a fertilidade dependem do tipo de cancro e do tratamento que pode fazer.<\/p><p>Nem todas as mulheres que t\u00eam tratamento para o cancro ter\u00e3o um problema
