Muitas vezes causa efeitos secund\u00e1rios \u00e0s c\u00e9lulas saud\u00e1veis do corpo e pode afectar a fertilidade de uma mulher. Isto pode danificar os ov\u00e1rios e diminuir o n\u00famero de \u00f3vulos (reserva ovariana).  <\/p><p>O efeito da quimioterapia sobre a fertilidade depende disso:<\/p><ul><li>O tipo de drogas que lhe ser\u00e3o dadas.<\/li><li>A dose e por quanto tempo toma os medicamentos.<\/li><li>A combina\u00e7\u00e3o de drogas que lhe ser\u00e1 dada.<\/li><li>A sua idade e estado de fertilidade anterior.<\/li><\/ul><p>A quimioterapia pode danificar os ov\u00e1rios e os \u00f3vulos da mulher. Isto pode significar que o ciclo menstrual de uma mulher frequentemente p\u00e1ra (amenorreia) ou torna-se irregular (oligomenorreia) durante a quimioterapia. Isto pode acontecer dentro de alguns meses ou pode demorar at\u00e9 um ano ou mais. Quanto mais jovem for, quando tiver o tratamento de quimioterapia, e se tiver menos de 35 anos, mais prov\u00e1vel \u00e9 que os seus per\u00edodos regressem. O n\u00famero de anos que voc\u00ea \u00e9 f\u00e9rtil pode ser menor. Mesmo que os seus per\u00edodos voltem, isto nem sempre significa que voc\u00ea ser\u00e1 capaz de engravidar.    <\/p><h4>Permanente<\/h4><p>Se as mudan\u00e7as no ciclo menstrual forem permanentes, isto significa que os seus per\u00edodos n\u00e3o voltar\u00e3o ap\u00f3s o tratamento do cancro, e a menopausa come\u00e7a. As mulheres com mais de 35 anos s\u00e3o mais propensas a serem inf\u00e9rteis ap\u00f3s o seu tratamento do cancro.
